How to fix “Waiting for Location” issue in Google Maps Navigation after updating to Android 4.2
This is part 2 of my update to Android 4.2 on my Galaxy Nexus. The one issue I faced with updating to Android 4.2 on my Galaxy Nexus was Google Maps Navigation stopped functioning for me. I could open up Maps and my location would pinpoint right away. I could get directions from my current location to a destination. However, when I went to initiate Google Maps Navigation for turn-by-turn directions, this is what I would see:
“Waiting for location”
I tried turning GPS On/Off. I tried restarting my phone. I went to Settings > Location access and verified that everything was checked on. Still no luck.
Then I discovered there are 2 location settings in Android. One for the phone and one for the Google account. You have to enable both location settings or Google Maps Navigation will not work.
Settings > Accounts > Google > Location Settings
“Let Google apps access your location” must be turned on.

I was not the only person who had this issue with Google Maps Navigation and the Android 4.2 update. Source: Problems with Google Navigation after 4.1.2 update? Read this!
